Auto window tint is what we built this shop on. For nearly forty years, our work has rolled in and out of the same garage on Fort Riley Blvd, from sedans and pickups to the Teslas, M-class BMWs, and full-build trucks that show up today.
Every install starts the same way: we ask what you drive, what bothers you most about your current glass, and how dark you want to go. From there we pick the film that fits, not the most expensive one in the rack, the right one. Carbon for the daily driver that's getting too hot in Kansas summers. About auto window tint.
- How long does window tint take to install? +
- Most full-vehicle tint jobs take 2 to 4 hours depending on the vehicle and the film tier. SUVs and trucks with quarter glass take longer than sedans. We'll give you a precise estimate when you book, and you're welcome to wait in the shop or drop off and pick up.
- How long does window tint last? +
- Quality film, installed correctly, lasts the life of the vehicle. Our SolarFX films come with a manufacturer warranty that covers fading, bubbling, peeling, and adhesive failure. Cheap film from a discount shop will start failing in 1–3 years. That's the difference our 40 years of experience makes.
- Is window tint legal in Kansas? +
- Yes, within limits, and the limits depend on what you drive. On a sedan, Kansas requires 35% visible light transmission (VLT) or lighter on the front sides, rear sides, and back glass. On an SUV, van, or truck, only the front side windows are held to 35%: the rear sides and back glass can go as dark as you want. Windshields can take non-reflective film above the AS-1 line marked on the glass. Kansas also requires dual side mirrors if the back window is tinted, and does not issue medical exemptions for darker film.
- What is the darkest legal tint in Kansas? +
- 35% VLT on the front side windows, on every vehicle. Behind the front seats it depends on the body style: a sedan is held to 35% all the way around, while an SUV, van, or truck can go as dark as you like on the rear sides and back glass, including limo tint. That single rule is why the same film package prices out differently on a Camry than on a Tahoe. Tell us what you drive and we'll tell you exactly how dark you can legally go.
- Will I get pulled over with 25% tint? +
- On front side windows in Kansas, 25% is below the 35% legal limit, so yes, it is a citable offense and tint is an easy thing for an officer to spot. On the rear glass of an SUV or truck, 25% is perfectly legal. We install to the legal limit by default because a ticket plus a strip-and-retint costs far more than doing it right the first time.
- Is 20% or 35% tint darker? +
- 20% is darker. The percentage is visible light transmission, meaning how much light the film lets through, so a lower number is a darker window. 35% lets through about a third of the light and is the Kansas legal limit for front sides. 20% is noticeably darker and is a common choice for rear glass on SUVs and trucks, where Kansas sets no limit.
- How much is a tint ticket in Kansas? +
- Illegal tint is a non-moving violation in Kansas, and the total cost varies by county once court costs are added. The bigger expense is usually what follows: you may be required to remove the film and show proof of compliance, which means paying to strip the tint and then paying again to have legal film installed. Getting it right the first time is cheaper than any version of that.
- What's the difference between dyed, carbon, and ceramic tint? +
- Dyed film is the entry tier: it darkens the glass and blocks some UV, but offers minimal heat rejection. Carbon film is color-stable, won't fade purple over time, and blocks more heat. Ceramic film is the top tier: it rejects infrared heat (the part of sunlight that actually makes your car hot), doesn't interfere with phone signals or GPS, and lasts the longest. If you live in Kansas summers, ceramic pays for itself in cabin comfort.
- Can I roll my windows down after tint is installed? +
- We recommend leaving the windows up for 3 to 5 days after installation. The film needs time to cure and bond fully to the glass. Rolling down too soon can pull the edges and leave permanent imperfections.
- Will tint fade or turn purple over time? +
- Cheap dyed film fades and turns purple. It's the dye breaking down under UV. Our carbon and ceramic films are color-stable for the life of the vehicle. If you've seen purple tint on the road, it's a film failure that won't happen with what we install.
- Do you remove old window tint? +
- Yes. We charge a removal fee based on the condition of the existing film, then quote your new install. Old, bubbled tint that's been on for years takes longer to strip than recent film, but we handle the full job either way.
- Do you offer a warranty? +
- Every install carries a lifetime workmanship warranty from us, plus the manufacturer warranty on the film or coating itself. If anything bubbles, peels, or fails, bring it back. We'll make it right.
